Kara Sollars, Legal Secretary

Kara Sollars graduated from Michigan State University in May of 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities Pre-law. Along with her bachelors degree, she graduated with a minor in economics and a minor in Spanish. During her time at university, Kara was an active member in the Spartan ski club and was the Co-President of MSU’s Pre-Law Society. Throughout the Summer of 2022, she was chosen out of hundreds of applicants to do an intensive study abroad in Economics of Law and Public Policy in London, England, where she gained hands-on experience in international tax and healthcare law. Kara also speaks conversational Spanish and is learning everyday to become fluent.

Her first internship was at Okemos Legal Group PLLC in 2021. At this general practice firm, Kara learned legal writing and legal research skills in many different areas of law. Those include, criminal, probate/estate planning, employment, and family law. At the end of her internship, Kara was chosen to train the incoming interns and even gave a small lecture on family law.

Her second internship was at the Michigan Attorney General’s office in Lansing, Michigan. Kara worked in the Criminal Trials and Appeals Division, within the Expungements Department. Under her mentors, Paralegal Daniel Krason and Attorney John Pallas, she was able to sharpen her skills. This is where Kara really found her passion for not only law, but helping people in her community. She actively participated in expungement fairs in her local community in Metro-Detroit and in the Lansing area. She is passionate about making sure people are educated about the law.

When she’s not in the office, Kara is usually curled up with a good book or trying to cook a recipe she found on social media. She loves to travel the world and learn about different cultures and history. Her favorite city in the world is Budapest, Hungary and the place she would love to travel to next is Seoul, South Korea. Finally, Kara is a natural extrovert and enjoys spending time with her friends and family, and of course, meeting new people along the way!
